ISOLATION OF PLANNED RELEASES IN THE ENVIRONMENT FOR GENETICALLY MODIFIED SOYA BEAN
The National Technical Commission on Biosafety (CTNBio) in using its power in accordance with Decree 5591 of 22 November 2005 regulates provisions of Law No 11,105 of 24 March 2005 and, according to the adopted at its 131 Ordinary Meeting, held on 18 March 2010, stipulates that the planned releases in the environment of genetically modified soya beans should be isolated for at least 10 metres from other soya bean fields, should be used within 10 metres of at least Five (5) metres border of cultivated soya bean variety approved for commercial planting, watching the lines for space normally recommended for soya bean. After finishing the full flowering of the experimental plots containing GM plants, the border of physical isolation may be destroyed. If it is not destroyed after the flowering, at the end of the experiment such border should be destroyed.
The planned releases into the environment of GM soya bean not yet implemented and those which are being assessed by CTNBio should have their isolation conditions appropriate to the provisions of this Communiqué.
