The Biosafety National Technical Commission – CTNBio, using the powers vested in it by Decree no. 5,591, of November 22, 2005, which regulates provisions of Law no. 11,105, of March 24, 2005, and according to what was passed during the 114th CTNBio Regular Meeting, of June 19, 2008, determines the following isolation conditions to enable authorization of planned release to the environment of genetically modified cotton plant:

The Biosafety National Technical Commission – CTNBio, using the powers vested in it by Decree no. 5,591, of November 22, 2005, which regulates provisions of Law no. 11,105, of March 24, 2005, and according to what was passed during the 114th CTNBio Regular Meeting, of June 19, 2008, determines the following isolation conditions to enable authorization of planned release to the environment of genetically modified cotton plant:The Biosafety National Technical Commission – CTNBio, using the powers vested in it by Decree no. 5,591, of November 22, 2005, which regulates provisions of Law no. 11,105, of March 24, 2005, and according to what was passed during the 114th CTNBio Regular Meeting, of June 19, 2008, determines the following isolation conditions to enable authorization of planned release to the environment of genetically modified cotton plant:

(a) the modified cotton plant shall be not less than 800m away from other cotton plant species, in case there are wild or local varieties of cotton plants in the neighborhood;


(b) the modified cotton plant shall be not less than 250m  away from any  other cotton plant and, in the absence of  wild  plants or local varieties, restraining belts of  thirty lines of conventional cotton plant  and ten lines  of corn shall  be planted around  the experimental plots.
